Goal 1: Books

Three more books for goal 1.

An Everlasting Meal by Tamar Adler. I'm a sucker for food books, and this was no exception. Very similar to MFK Fisher, probably owing to the fact that the author cites her as an inspiration on the very first page.

Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. I thought this was one of my mom's favorite books, but after reading it I found out it's not, and that she doesn't even care for Ann Patchett at all. Someone must have recommended this to me - I don't know why I would have picked it up otherwise. Luckily I did like it, and am reading more of Patchett's work.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson, aka the Bloggess. Very funny but definitely not for everyone. It's basically her blog in book form, so if you don't get her humor, you won't laugh out loud like I did.

1. Read 27 books | Progress: 4/27.

More beer!

Found four more beer pics in my camera roll from April and May.

Goal 3 Update: April & May

Tons of progress on my 27 beers list (my favorite goal). This is also one of the goals that I constantly forget to take pictures of, so while I've proably already accomplished 27 different beers, I've only managed to document 17.

A visit to the Brooklyn Brewery helped me cross off nine beers in one day! I had one of everything except the Blast. The Weisse and the Ama Bionda were delicious, and the Oishi was my least favorite.

The office happy hour is always a good source for random beers that I wouldn't otherwise try, like this giant can of Sapporo and this Flying Dog IPA. I don't really go for IPAs but this Belgian style wasn't too bad.

We finally installed the bottle opener that I gave Colin for Christmas two years ago. There's something about a wall-mount that just makes opening bottles more fun.  This beer came from our beers-of-the-month box, a Christmas gift from Caitlin & Lauren.

A Memorial Day tradition: Labatt! We spend every Memorial Day weekend in my Mom's hometown of Lewiston, NY with all of our extendended family. It's right across the river from Canada, near Niagara Falls, so my family tends to drink a lot of Canadian beers.

On Sunday nights, you can usually find us having pizza at Dozzino. Great food and BYOB! Colin snagged this liter beer from the specialty beer store in Jersey City, and it was DELICIOUS!

3. Drink 27 kinds of beer | Progress: 17/27.   Brooklyn Beer x9, Sapporo, Raging Bitch, Indian River Shoal Draft, Labatt, White Gold

April 2 - 8

Crossed a lot of veggies off my list this week!
4. Eat 27 vegetables | Progress: 18/27. Cucumbers, zucchini, celery, sweet potatoes, asparagus, potatoes, edamame, baby corn, sprouts, avocado.

Also snacked on a few bananas.
5. Eat 27 fruits | Progress: 8/27. Bananas.

And finished my first book of goal 2! I enjoyed The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta because it was very character based, though it did take a hard left turn in the last thirty pages or so. 4 stars.

1. Read 27 books | Progress: 1/27.

Scenes from the weekend

Between Sean & Laura's housewarming party, going out with Phil, and then meeting up with Phil (again) & Alison, I manged to knock another four beers off of goal 3.

3. Drink 27 beers | Progress: 7/27. Coors, Heineken, Shock Top, Allagash.

Not to mention knocking off a few fruits with the fruit salad at my future step-nephew-in-law's 2nd birthday party.

5. Eat 27 fruits | Progress: 7/27. Honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, blueberries, blackberries.

Goal 3

I think this might be one of the easiest goals to complete. Kevin suggested 27 bottles of wine, but to be honest, I'm not much of a wine drinker: I'm a beer girl.

3. Drink 27 kinds of beer | Progress: 3/27. PBR.

Rainbow lunch.

My office has a salad bar every Friday for lunch. I have a feeling this will go a long way to goal 4.

Also, I find it more fun to eat a salad crudités style. Bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, and jicama! Love love love jicama.

4. Eat 27 vegetables | Progress: 8/27. Bell peppers, broccoli, jicama.

Bedtime snack

5. Eat 27 fruits | Progress: 2/27. Strawberries.
